I have a love/hate relationship with my Darling pup Maggie Lou. Whenever I purchased her I had the mind set that Bloodhounds were calm, lazy and slept majority of the time.
She is as sweet as they come although she likes to jump and is a wee bit to big to be jumping on me. I am a short only measuring in around 5'3 but whenever she jumps up she is almost as tall as I am! Not only does she scratch, but she bruises too. So I walk around with long skinny bruises constantly. I can no longer let her around C.B. until she calms/gets older. She will be a year old in July so we have a ways to go until she calms down.
Last week I received her Continental Kennel Club registration papers on her, but I still cannot make myself put an add in the local newspaper. I just feel so bad to be giving her away but honestly she is just to much for us.
What to do =(

I completely understand. We had to do the same thing with our dog. He was so sweet & such a good dog but he was HUGE & would leave big marks on us too. Even though he was just playing we couldn't run the risk of him hurting Riley or Averly. Luckily my SIL wanted him & took him for us. It makes me feel better that I know he's in a good home. Maybe somebody you know will end up getting her!
Poor thing...you and the pup. That's a hard decision to make; especially with those eyes staring back at you! I hope everything works out!!
Eek tough tough decision.. You have to do what is best for you, maybe interview people before you just give the pup away! Best of luck!
I'm so sorry to hear what you've been going through. As a bloodhound owner, our dog Lola was the exact same way, until she was about 2. She is a completely different dog now (she is 3 1/2) very calm, sleeps about 18 hours a day. Although, we don't have a child yet (coming in October) my advice would be to get her some training and give her some time to calm down before you give her away. I only say this because we could not imagine our lives without Lola. Best of luck.
awww....those eyes. it would be really, really hard!
Awe! I can somewhat relate. We had to get rid of our cat mainly because of Aubrey. She wAs CRaaaZY and constantly scratching. It was a little tough on Autumn too but you got to do what you got to do!
Oh and I am going to have that song stuck in my head AlL day!
We have a bloodhound too, and like Bloodhounds and Babies said, it took her about that long, but now she is the sweetest dog ever! My boys climb all over her and she doesn't care one bit. I say just give it a little more time! Good luck!
We gave our puppy (a Rottweiler) away because we didn't have the time or energy he deserved either. I've always wanted a Bloodhound and he is just gorgeous. Good luck making your decision...I definitely know it's so hard.
