Alive

I pinky promise that I am still alive & well. I have just had tons of exciting events going on (see the past few posts) and more life making memories on the way!

I hope to get a new blog post from Charli Beth's first field trip up in the next few days, although I do have presentation and two papers due this coming week! Please bare with me =)

Other news: I purchased my bridal gown yesterday and "if God willing & the Creek don't rise" we have set our date for June 11, 2011!

In the mean time go check out these two blogs Howell's Happenings & The Richeys from BG. I had lunch with these two lovely ladies this past week and they are so very sweet! I hope we are able to do this again very soon!

Our engagement story!

I cannot even begin to describe to you how very exciting this week has been! I'm not even sure that there are words to do so.

Friday, March, 18

Curtis, Charli Beth and I were going to eat that afternoon with his friends Nick and Nicole although before he got to my house I was determined to get in a nap. I was completely wore out from being off that day playing with Charli Beth, having lunch with Curtis' sister Amanda, running errands and pretty much just from being my lovely lazy self! He called me five minutes away to ask if I was ready, and I kept giving him a hard time telling him that he should of been at my house earlier and we were going to make him wait. (I was only kidding) We started getting ready and I honestly just threw on clothes that I seen laying around and freshened up my make up, threw on Charli Beth's clothes with his help and we practically walked out the door. While he was helping CB get dressed he told that he had something he wanted to give me but it was secret.

We headed towards his house, to ride around on the farm for a few minutes before meeting them. Whenever we got out there and stopped, he quickly got out of the truck and went to get CB out of her booster. While he was getting her out he handed her the box and told her to give it to me and say "Curtis wants you to have this." I had no idea why we were getting out of the truck so I just hopped out too and waited to walk around with them. She eventually came up to me with the most precious, nervous, scared, excited look on her face and told me exactly what he said, when I turned to him he was on one knee asking "Will you marry me?"

I'm pretty sure that is what he said at least?! Because I was to busy crying, and asking are you serious, is this a joke over and over again. We kissed and hugged Charli forever =)

This took place on the most beautiful afternoon as the sun was going down in the same spot that I told him we should get married at!
The first thing I asked my Mom was why she didn't tell me to look cute that night! Ugh..

Curtis did have a long talk with both of my parents (which I think is amazing) and if you follow me on twitter and remember the day I was freaking out about an appointment one Sunday he had in early February, that was the day he bought the ring! But as well all know I am the girl that worries, way to much about everything for obviously no reason at all!

I knew from the second date that something was different about this relationship, and that I had fallen in love so very quickly. But never in my life did I dream that the Lord had blessed me with such an amazing man to not only one day be my Husband but to be a father to my children. Charli Beth is super excited about this and I could not be anymore proud of her for helping him out. She did such a wonderful job =) Every rough patch that I have ever went or put myself through is completely worth it now. I am simply amazed at the blessings that God has given me. I ask that all of you remember our family as these big changes are taking place. We can always use as many prayers as we can get!

School Lunch Date

Last Thursday I went to Charli Beth's school to enjoy some time with her and not to mention to eat some of their lovely school pizza that I have been craving since I graduated {in 2005.} My best friend Krystina and her daughter Kaylen that is in CB's class ate lunch with us as well. We had a wonderful time while the kids showed off their lunch room and some of their friends. They really impressed me on how big they were acting while standing in the lunch line. It honestly made my heart melt. I cannot believe these girls are fixing to be five in less than a month!

I cannot wait to go back and try some other school food with CB. She was very excited to have me there with her! I hope she is always this excited to have me around her and her friends =)
..I know, in my dreams, right?

Weekend Getaway in Chattanooga

.

Last weekend my boyfriend and I headed down to Chattanooga, TN to get away and explore a new(ish) city. We arrived hotel the Chattanoogan around 5 Friday afternoon. We absolutely adored the hotel and everything about it, minus their parking structure. We ate a place called Table 2 that night and I enjoyed the most delish steak (and probably the most expensive 6 oz), ever. Oh my word was it good. 5oh ate some kind of a duck breast and absolutely loved it. But I can not recommend it to anyone, because I thought I was going to d.i.e. while trying to get it down.
We pretty much were like the show Man VS. Food, except Man & Woman vs. Food. ha! We conquered that city and all of it's goodness.

On Saturday morning we ate at City Cafe Diner (I think that was the name, but you don't need to remember it anyhow) and it was awful. Worst omelets on the earth. I swear this post isn't a food review, but we just like food a lot?!?!

We walked around downtown Chattanooga after breakfast and stuffed ourselves full at Sticky Fingers. This is probably the best bbq place in America. I absolutely love stuffed potatoes with bbq in them, and I was so excited to see that they had them on the menu.It started raining extremely hard during the early afternoon so we decided that nothing would be better than taking a lazy day nap. We napped forever and then headed to Big River which was excellent as well.

Due to the rain on Saturday during the day and that night it was completely useless to try to do anything so we watched tv and got some awesome sleep.

Sunday morning after checking out of the our hotel it thankfully stopped raining and we were able to go to Lookout Mountain and Rock City. Even though it was completely freezing, I'm SO glad that we were able to accomplish this because we had a lot of fun walking around Rock City.

Before leaving Chattanooga we made sure to eat at one more new place. So we picked BlueWater Grill that is owned by the same people as Big River. I am not a fan of seafood, what-so-ever but went out on a limb and tried stuffed pasta shells w/ crabmeat, scallops, shrimp. To my surprise, it was delish!I am very certain that I gained ten pounds on this getaway.

This trip was more than necessary for us as a couple. I could write another book full of reasons why I love this guy and how he just fits so perfectly into my life, in so many different ways. I am extremely blessed to have him for CB and I to love. I am still as ecstatic as I was on day one of meeting him. Ah. =) I just love it.Lovers Leap

Which bridges to cross & which to burn

The doors we open and close each day decide the lives in which we live

This is going to be ranting post but I truly think it is something that I need to get out of my system. Some of you that know me in real life, know exactly where I am coming from and maybe even if you do not know me in real life, you will know these types of people, or maybe you are even this type of person. But I am just sick of these people...

We all get to make choices, every single day. We each decide which paths in life that we want to take. The typical person usually makes wrong decisions whenever they are teenagers or whenever you are young adults. But it's not something that we need to make a habit. Most importantly, if you have made one wrong decision, it does not place you into a certain category that makes you a "loser" and that you can never get out of your slump.

In my line of work I see all sorts of people that I use to know (I say "use to" very firmly only because I knew who they once were and not who they have become now) that act completely stupid because they think that this is life, and they are what you want to call cool.

Do they not understand that people do NOT think they are cool? People talk. No matter what. People are always going to say, look what he or she used to be, and look where they are now. What a shame.

It is a Shame. I am disgusted by these people. A little judgmental? Maybe. But I feel that I must be because for some reason these people have lost themselves and forgotten completely who they are. (& maybe someone should of kicked em' in the rump a heck of a long time ago before it got this far)

You want something out life. You MUST work for it. You must do good, to get good.

I choose to get out my situation, my mistakes, my bad habits and so can YOU.

You are so much more than you make yourself out to be. Your days may be a little more boring but your life will be so much brighter.

I stand here as a person looking in, completely begging you to take a look at your life and realize that you are in taking ten steps backwards rather then two steps forward. Life is only as complicated and messy as we make it out to be. If you are not careful life will end up a lot more complicated than you can ever imagine.

I will leave you with this quote.....

"The hardest thing in life, is to know which bridges to cross and which bridges to burn."

Gas

This is ridiculous.
Gas is $3.39 in my small town and $3.49 in Bowling Green.
Next I guess I'll be giving them my first born.

How much is it in your area?

***update: Gas just turned $3.50 in my town!!

I think it's a bunch of crock, but that's just MY two cents worth!

Confessions

Confession: My bedroom is disgusting. I have clothes and totes piled high from going through consignment sale items for the Little Angels Attic sale in Bowling Green. Which leads me to another ...

Confession: I will never ever ever consign again. There is just to much of it, for this Momma. I like having yard sales, so I will stick to them and continue volunteer my three hours.

Confession: I hate my new hair cut. Seriously, hate. I want extensions like no other.

Confession: I have a group presentation to do at the end of March for my public health class and my group (which includes two males. Which says it all.) has not started yet. I've tried............but whatev

Confession: Charli Beth is having green eggs & ham at school tomorrow for Dr. Seuss day. I'm not going to send her lunch with her just to see if she will eat that nasty mess. haha! She has snack time and I'm very sure they will give them the option of what to eat!

Confession: I might just want to drop kick the little boy that asked Charli to be his girlfriend at nap time today.

I'm done complaining confessing for now...Peace Out.

Story of Mommy

My photo
I am a sinner saved by the grace of God. A wife to the 5oh, and Mother to Charli Beth and Bryar. This is my story of Motherhood, life experiences and sometimes even my overwhelming heart all typed out. I believe in second chances, yet the firm hand of parenting. That sweet tea is of the comfort food category. Chickens belong in every backyard. Children should each have a responsibility of their own while helping take care of duties in the home. Sports are a must for our family, and we spend many nights on courts or fields. We consistently feel new to each of the experiences that are brought into our lives. But we are always excited for the journey in which God has given us.
