Recently I found where a NICU nurse that took care of Bryar was selling some that she purchased for ER daughter, but could not use. Score! I purchased all boy or gender neutral colors that she had and different liners to try out. Last night was our first experience with them. I must say that I love the learning and knowing that I am saving money. But I failed to double line through the night and woke to a bed full of icky urine.
Bryar is in a stage of being super thirsty at night. He possibly drank two cups of milk. I am not sure why he has started this, but I hope it just isn't a habit that will need to e broke along with buddy.

never had any experience with sun baby but we bought Bumgenius 4.0 and I love them! They come with the inserts and we've been using them for almost a year now and they are still great. No problems with smells at all but just make sure you are very careful with how you wash them.
I will say that we had trouble with leaks during the night as well and after I tried every possible combination of inserts, I had to give up and just use disposables at night. But it's not too bad since I only use 1 a day and a pack of disposables last a whole month that way. Also, do not use diaper cream with cloth diapers.. they won't be absorbent anymore!
We also used BumGenius 4.0, Thirsties, and SoftBums. I mostly used a Bumgenius 4.0 with regular insert and newborn insert. That worked okay for us but I know many have to use disposables at night. Glad you're getting to cloth diaper! I did for about a year with my son from 9 months on. His toddler urine ended up being too strong for my microfiber inserts and front load washer. I loved it while it lasted, though!
Way to go on CD! I did my first and a bit of my 2nd but we travel far too much and not everyone was okay with me washing at their house.
I had quite a few Sunbaby diapers and didn't have issues. The more I used, the more absorbent and sometimes I double stuffed. I like bum genius as well as a few others. Even ones a friend made, I loved. Always issues over night wih my first but she was a heavy wetter ad I had to put a liner or a pad in an over night disposable diaper..You can double line, wool covers are great or try an AIO thick diaper designed for overnight.
So Happy to hear y'all are trying out cloth! We love ours. I really wish I would've used them on all my babies!
I have about 5sunbabys in my stash. I like them a lot for their price but mainly just use them on short outings or around the house. I use a mix of pockets and Aio's. My favorite diapers are swaddlebees. I know she will last at least 5 hours in them and have added a bamboo and hemp insert to them as nighttime solution. They are pricey though. Up until a few nights ago I still had disposables from my husband's diaper party and we just put her in them at night. I think It's a trial and error process. What works for one baby might not work for others so just play around with it until you get it right.
If you have any questions or anything just let me know!
