Paige on a RAMPAGE.

"Next to creating a life, the finest thing a man can do is save one."
- Abraham Lincoln

What is the deal with men being so "scared" of women working in ems? I don't know any other word to use than SCARED. I am capable...beyond capable of helping a paramedic save a life {or a million}. I can hold my own weight pretty darn well but for some reason men do not see this. Heck...women too! If I hurt my back, then I hurt it, I am sure there are plenty of men that have back, knee, shoulder problems from working EMS too.

I have applied in over 5 counties for an EMT job, and have not heard a single thing from any of them. I called back to one place not to long ago, he practically hung up on me? It almost broke my spirits completely but I tried to keep in mind that there are other counties. I applied in my own county and asked them to hold my application until something came available because I would always be interested in this career. They have now hired {once a-freakin-gin} a man. What in the world? Even though I am young, I have been working at 911 for two years now, shouldn't that be a great reference? Ahh, forget it.

It's the same thing with law enforcement, have I just picked two of the worst careers for women to be in or what? I know I probably sound freaking ridiculous having a big rampage over a blog but I'm not at home, I'm sadly at work, and chatting with my Mom about it through facebook messages isn't doing justice.

Aw girl, my heart breaks for you! I know it's something you OBVIOUSLY really want to do and it's awful that you can't get a break. It will come to you though, I pray. Just be patient! Try to anyway!

I saw this on someone's FaceBook status and had to share it with you after reading your blog!!

Whatever we women do we must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult.

Just reminded me of you...if it makes you feel any better, in my career women are preferred, yet men are hired more easily for the simple fact that schools don't want to be seen as discriminating against a man! WHAT?? I swear, most teachers are women (as we know) but they'll hire a man in a heartbeat just to stay away from being accused of that!! CRAZY!

I'll pray for you...I too am depressed over not having my dream job, but God is finding a special place for us and when the time is right he'll hand it over! I'll be praying for you!

Story of Mommy

My photo
I am a sinner saved by the grace of God. A wife to the 5oh, and Mother to Charli Beth and Bryar. This is my story of Motherhood, life experiences and sometimes even my overwhelming heart all typed out. I believe in second chances, yet the firm hand of parenting. That sweet tea is of the comfort food category. Chickens belong in every backyard. Children should each have a responsibility of their own while helping take care of duties in the home. Sports are a must for our family, and we spend many nights on courts or fields. We consistently feel new to each of the experiences that are brought into our lives. But we are always excited for the journey in which God has given us.
