Magic School Bus Character Day

During the last week of school the second grade held fun little themed days. They shared camping, beach, storybook character, science experiment and field day. We have always loved storybook character day but this year was by far my favorite.

It took forever in deciding on the perfect character. It was June 2, for a Pete's sake so to much costume was a definite no. Then after turning on Netflix it hit me that Magic School bus was the way to go. Charli Beth completely agreed as well and we decide to go with the great Mrs. Frizzle!

In the days to come I searched Goodwill for a dress that I could decorate up but instead I found other adorable treasures. So while visiting my Mom she gave me an older shirt of hers that is now to large for her. I brought it home and began cutting and sewing.

No, it wasn't perfect but is Mrs. Frizzle known for her perfection? Not at all.

We purchased 23 cent felt from Walmart and cut out solar system shapes. As we were running out of time I decided to glue them on. I then taped stars onto brown flat shoes and stars onto cheap earrings.

Overall, I think my Mrs. Frizzle look a like was pretty cute! It was cheap and easy to make, which is totally my style!

Hopefully, next years costume will be just as cool for third grade!

Story of Mommy

My photo
I am a sinner saved by the grace of God. A wife to the 5oh, and Mother to Charli Beth and Bryar. This is my story of Motherhood, life experiences and sometimes even my overwhelming heart all typed out. I believe in second chances, yet the firm hand of parenting. That sweet tea is of the comfort food category. Chickens belong in every backyard. Children should each have a responsibility of their own while helping take care of duties in the home. Sports are a must for our family, and we spend many nights on courts or fields. We consistently feel new to each of the experiences that are brought into our lives. But we are always excited for the journey in which God has given us.
